Well here it is the big day. I got to meet the specialist surgeon who was going to remove my skull based tumour. Still not sure why I had to meet him but hey ho, another two months had passed. I had researched him a lot on the internet and expected him to be in his 50's or so from all the medical qualifications he had. To my surprise he was so much younger. I was only with him say 20 minutes. Arrived at 1.50 saw him at 3.15. First time I had been to QMC can't say I was impressed. Very old very shabby hospital. I am hoping the staff are as good as I have heard from word of mouth. I have to say my preference would have been Derby but Derby doesnt deal with such complex issues as brain tumours. He was nice enough, very straightforward. Got me to sign some consent forms. I said are you doing to shave my hair off and he said "probably not" we try not to do that anymore. He couldnt promise ofcourse. There was me thinking bloody hell, months of having my hair cut shorter and shorter ready for this event. Typical. I asked him when I could go back to work he said January 1st onwards.... so it wont be this year then. I asked about the surgery he said about 6-8 weeks, he also said they would send me a letter. Well you can imagine my surprise at this as I'd never had a letter... So I said " I dont mean to be rude, but will you actually send me one or shall I call in say 3 weeks and get told a date on the phone" . He again iterated I would get a letter. So that was me it was all confirmed a craniotomy it was going to be... wow scarey stuff.
